LDT Filter

More information

The LDT Filter is a unit that fits in series with the Solid State Interlocking (SSI) Long Distance Terminal (LDT) and its associated external wiring, in order to improve the LDT's system performance.

LDT Filter

The in-service availability of the LDT falls below expectations because of shutdowns which require a Maintainer to visit the location and manually reset the power to the LDT. It is generally accepted that a major cause of these shutdowns is conducted electromagnetic interference. The LDT Filter is designed to protect the LDT from this interference and so improve its availability.

Connections

The filter's earth strap must be fastened to the LDT with one of its fixing screws; all other connections are made via 75-way ITT Trident connectors. Pin allocations are defined in BR1906, September 1989 (Note that the N12/B12 battery connections are not through connected in the LDT Filter).
